And now onto the next show! Alberta Ferretti’s designs have always been simple and feminine and sophisticated maybe because of their very clean lines and attention to the little details and today I was able to see her collection! This show was presented in a semi-presential modality and the whole collection was published online for international media. The venue? An enchanted forest’s recreation at Milano’s heart, as Alberta Ferretti herself, put it, and I must say it indeed looked charming.
And what did we see today? Lots of gorgeous things: satin crop tops, puffy sleeves in shirts and dresses alike, miniskirts, straight cut jackets with extra big pockets, tight dresses and sweaters that looked quite cozy. We also saw so many textures in fabrics: chiffon, silk, and hand-knit yarn, among others.
The main colors of this collection are nudes, earth colors, camel, whites, yellows, and pastel tones that are going to be trending next season. There were also transparencies in some dresses and skirts that I’m also sure we are going to be seeing a lot during spring and summer, and some deep necklines that put together with the fabrics and colors used in this collection, keep the illusion of just bare skin.
This collection was also influenced by the times we are living and it is undeniable the practical nature of the clothes we saw today, yes, they look feminine but you can almost imagine yourself going on with your day in any of Alberta Ferretti’s refined designs, with total ease, specially with any of the gorgeous flat sandals she presented.
These are my favorite looks of this collection:
Is there anything here you are thinking about getting for yourself? Lets compare notes
Today at 3:00 pm Milano’s time, I saw Fendi’s spring/summer’s collection in the first day of Milano Fashion Week. The show was held in a semi-presential modality following all the sanitary precautions during this pandemic, in an effort to reactivate the fashion industry, that has been badly affected.
The catwalk simulated the effect of drape’s shadows on bay windows that allowed glimpses of trees moved by the wind at dusk, in beautiful and evocative white and gray tones. And with this very whimsical background we were able to appreciate the new tendencies for next season: earth tones, very discreet prints, a mix of leather and vaporous fabrics with lots of transparencies and textures that create a half-bare skin, gradients in leather textures and fabrics in solid colors.
We also saw oversized silhouettes, military inspiration in dresses, skirts and jackets with extra-large buttons and very pronounced shoulder in the jackets, and leather coats that can be used also as midi dresses. We could also see pronounced sleeve openings that gave every piece a sense of movement and that I think will be a trend to follow.
Other think that I also liked a lot were the accessories, the bags were generally very structured with a mixture of different textiles and transparencies, but my favorite ones were the net and grid textures that seem to scream “summer” every time we wear one of these bags.
And did you see those gorgeous tights? They looked spectacular with the embroidered double F badge and with vibrant pastel tones that matched the shoes’ colors, the nude’s ones looked gorgeous too and I guess next summer a lot of us will be wearing them!
One of the things that I absolutely loved of this show, besides the amazing pieces and the whole collection’s aesthetics, was the model’s diversity in the catwalk, not only in age but also in size. We were able to see curvy models looking absolutely gorgeous and fierce and older than average models also looking like queens. And I think that this is a very powerful message: fashion is for everyone, no matter your age, your clothes’ size or your skin color, every woman should be able to choose whatever pieces reflect her inner selves and make her feel gorgeous!
So, here are some of my favorite looks for this collection:
What about you? Which pieces you liked the best and are dying to have as soon as possible? I’ll keep you all posted of more shows soon!

Today Fendi announced that they finally have iconic Karl Lagerfeld’s replacement as head designer and that person is none other than Kim Jones. As some of you might know, Kim Jones’ is the creative director of Dior Homme (and will continue to be) and among other achievements, last year he was named designer of the year at the Fashion Awards in London.
He is quite an influential figure in the fashion industry, did you know that he designed David Beckham’s suite for Prince Harry’s wedding in 2018? In fact, he’s so talented that John Galliano bought half of his graduate collection in 2002, and has proved time again his creativity with bold movements like renaming Dior Homme into Dior Men’s and going beyond the traditional suiting. Some have said that he injected a streetwear energy on high fashion, blending them both perfectly.
With Fendi, Jones will be in charge of haute-couture, ready to wear and fur collections for women and I’m curious to say the least, to watch his creations as he will be working with Silvia Fendi, who used to appear with Karl Lagerfeld at the end of every women’s wear show, on the catwalk. I guess it’d be interesting to see if this little tradition keeps going on in the next show.
Besides, this will be the first time that Kim Jones will be in charge of women’s wear and I’m sure he will have something spectacular to show the world because he blends high fashion and commercial success effortlessly with his very particular view of how fashion should look like. So, yes, I’m excited to see his first collection with Fendi!
So, it’s been a week since online classes started for my three children and it’s been a week of adjustments… lets say, but we’re staying optimistic. Some days ago, I was talking in my IG stories about the challenges of back to school in a distance learning modality with three little kids, and let me tell you this has been kind of chaotic! Organizing schedules, iPads, computers, materials, zooms and everything else you can think of in between, hasn’t been the easiest thing to do, but I’m glad to report that step by step, we’re getting through!
No doubt this is a stressful situation for the whole family (even the pets!) and I want to share with you what little tips have been helping my family and I to see the bright side of this situation and keep in mind that this also too shall pass!
I think the first tip I could give you if you’re in a similar situation, is not to get overwhelmed. I know there are many things you need to do and sometimes it seems you have to do all of them at the same time, and that could be just too much! Here’s where prioritizing can literally save your sanity. Make lists with all the things you and the kids need to do and from there decide which activities are urgent and which ones can wait a little longer. This listing process also can help you teach your kids how to organize themselves, even if you think they’re too young to understand methods, believe me, they are learning. And breaking all the things you have to do into manageable pieces will stop you from being overwhelmed.
It’s also important to remember that even if this remote learning is stressful for you, the ones who are really going through an adjustment period, are your children. And kids are much more resilient than we give them credit for, however its our job as parents to make things manageable for them and one thing that is working with my kids is setting up a proper space for them to have their classes, as that helps them get focused. For kids as young as mine, it is recommended that they have a routine every day to provide them with a sense of stability so they can also have the certainty of knowing what is expected form them and when.
And last but not least, what has helped me to see this as an opportunity to grow, is remembering that my kids are very young still and that although it is important for them to learn certain skills that will make their lives easier in the future, their principal “job” right now, is being happy kids that learn as they play and that putting too much pressure on them is counterproductive in all ways imaginable.
Are you also a kind of stressed parent with this year’s back to school? How has it been for you? Let me know, remember that us parents need to be united to keep each other sane!
Recently I was asked to share what I consider the essential pieces in a woman’s wardrobe that could be both functional and stylish at the same time, and it could seem like a simple task but let me tell you that it is not, as there are so many options of so many brands I love an wear, and there are so many fun and amazing trends… not easy in the least.
However, I realized I really wanted to make this list and I wanted it to be practical, versatile and most important of all, that would have the ability to allow any woman wearing these pieces to shine. This list is going to have two different options of each piece that I love, but I want you to give you more affordable options.
1.- Little Black Dress. Let’s start by one of the most iconic pieces in every woman’s wardrobe. This versatile piece can be accessorized in so many ways for so many occasions that only your imagination is the limit. I’d recommend you to choose a dress that hugs your curves without pulling anywhere.
One my favorites is this Dolce & Gabbana black dress:
Another option can be this Dsquared2 gorgeous dress:
2.- Quality Jeans. A quality pair of designer jeans is a must in any woman’s wardrobe: you’ll be wearing them for a long time, you can accessorize them for a glamorous look or a more relaxed one. You can choose from a variety of styles: boot cut, straight leg, boyfriend style, skinny… your choice, try as many as you’d like until you find the ones that compliment your silhouette
I love this Balmain jeans:
And these ones from Michael Kors:
3.- Cardigan or Turtleneck Sweater. Both are great for layering and this is another piece you can dress up or don according to the situation, if is cashmere your sweater will be soft, warm and extra cool.
This Saint Laurent cashmere sweater is ideal for your basic’s selection:
Or you can opt for this beautiful sweater from Raundi:
4.- Classic White Shirt. A perfectly tailored white shirt makes you look classic and sophisticated, just pay attention that you’re able to move your arms comfortably in it.
This one form Alexander McQueen is not exactly your traditional white shirt, but I love it
This one from Michael Kors is more classical and equally gorgeous:
5.- Blazer. To find a blazer that fits you perfectly, you need to pay attention that the sleeves hit your mid thumb when your arms are down at your sides, make sure the seam sits squarely n your natural shoulders and isn’t too tight or too loose, finally check the hem as it should skim your hipbone.
This blazer from Tom Ford is completely gorgeous:
And you can also consider this other option from PS Paul Smith
As you all know, I only recommend products I’d use myself, so this post contains affiliate links, that means if you use them to make a purchase I may receive a commission from that sale.
Remember that in building a basic wardrobe you want to consider price, material’s quality and craftmanship, this in an investment you’re doing, so pay attention to what you’re getting and make sure that everything you select, fits you properly and makes you look amazing!
Working out is a very important part of my routine every day, and not only because it’s a healthy habit (but it is indeed a very important part of my selfcare routine, and I’ll talk to you about that later in another post), but also because working out allows me to focus on my body and what it requires and at the same time, while I’m working out I get to really appreciate what my body does daily even when I don’t fully appreciate it.
Some of you have been asking me to post workout routines you can do, and you can find one here by the way, and today besides giving you a workout routine I constantly do, I also wanted to help you make the most of the workout you decide to follow.
During all the time I’ve been working out, I’ve learned that as woman, your aim should be to “sculpt” your body instead of trying to change its shape. And what do I mean by “sculpting”? Building muscle while reducing body fat, so said muscle actually shows! And what is the best way to build muscle? Through weight training. Simple as that. And by the way, thinking that lifting weights is going to make you look bulky is just a myth as building muscles is kind of hard, even for men.
Another myth is that you have to spend two hours working out every day so you can see results when in fact a training of 45-60 min a day would be what your body requires. Of course it takes discipline, time and dedication, but you can see the time you spend working out, as an investment in yourself. You can alternate different kinds of training, sometimes you can do weight training, other times you can do yoga or decide to take a run (in the treadmill during this extended quarantine, sorry) or even dance. As I’ve said before, do what you enjoy and helps you keep being motivated to work out, but at the same time, push your own limits and don’t settle in a comfortable routine that isn’t helping your body anymore.
So, here’s a very simple routine I’ve made for you that will help you kick start your workouts, please before trying it out, check with your doctor if it’s safe for you.
This routine has 3 sets you must repeat for 10 mins:
1. 20 squats holding a kettlebell with one hand behind your back, above your head (see the video) Please be careful to use a kettlebell you can handle without hurting yourself.
2. 20 reps of bank jumps.
3. 50 rope jumps.
4. After you complete a circuit, start another one and end it as soon as you finish your 10 min. Take a breath, hydrate and start the next 10 min circuit until you finish your 3 sets.
Sounds easy, right? All I can tell you is that this circuit will challenge you in some or another way. Here’s some gear’s recommendations for this workout:Kettlebells. I like these ones because they let you choose the weight and you can increase it over time, and I also like that they come with a rack
Jumping Rope. I like this one because you can switch between light and heavy ropes and also has an app with more workouts.
As you all know, I only recommend products I’d use myself, so this post contains affiliate links, that means if you use them to make a purchase I may receive a comission from that sale.
Some of you have been asking me about my hair care routine and I’m actually very excited with this post, because it’s one I’ve been wanting to write for a little while. Why? Because if you’re a woman, you know the special relationship we all develop with our hair along our lives, who can’t relate to the experience of leaving the salon feeling you can conquer the world with just a simple (but gorgeous) hairstyle? Or who hasn’t thought that the cut you’ve just asked your stylist to do, just ruined your life?
Sometimes your relationship with your hair can be a complicated one, especially if you don’t understand what your hair requires, and I consider this the foundation: to know your hair type. Is it fine, medium or coarse? Is it thin or thick? Curly or straight? So, if you want to find out which is your hair type, here’s what you can do to find out:
- Wash your hair with a shampoo designed for “normal” hair but don’t use conditioner.
- Let your hair dry naturally without using a dryer or toweling too roughly.
- Once you hair is dry, you can see its natural texture: is it totally straight or does it have waves? Perhaps you have curls, or perhaps you have a mixture of textures.
- Can you see frizz in your hair? Does it have natural shine or does it seem dry and dull?
- To measure the thickness pull out a single hair and look at it in front of a white paper. If the hair is barely visible and feels soft, it’s fine. If it’s easy to see but still feels soft, your hair is medium. If it looks thick and feels wiry, your hair is coarse.
- To measure the thickness, pull it back as if you were creating a ponytail and measure its circumference, if the circumference is five centimeters or less, you have fine hair. If it is between five and ten centimeters your hair is of medium thickness, if it’s more than ten centimeters, your hair is thick.
Having this information will allow you to narrow your choices in hair care products because you’ll know exactly what your hair requires to look healthy and shiny! And talking about shiny hair, I also want to share with you some tips to increase your hair’s shine:
- When you wash your hair, finish with a cold rinse to close down the cuticles.
- Blow dry with a large, natural bristle barrel brush, pointing the nozzle down your hair as you dry.
- Use a hair mask once a week, look for ingredients such as jojoba, olive or coconut oil.
- Boost your intake of vitamin E and drink plenty of water to prevent your hair from becoming dehydrated, brittle and dull,
- Use a serum for your hair type avoiding the roots and when your hair is still wet.
A few days ago I was on the phone with a very dear friend of mine and she was telling me that she has started to feel overwhelmed with all that’s been going on in her life: her kids, family, her career, the million of things she has to do and that seems to never end, all the people and things that required her time and attention… and really, who hasn’t been there before?
I’ve been in my friend’s position a lot of times before and actually, with the added pressure of this pandemic and the new set of worries we now have to deal with (those of you who are mothers will understand what I’m talking about!), I guess that what is incredible is that not ALL of us are overwhelmed ALL the time!
So, while I was talking with her, I remembered a book that I read some time ago and that is one of my favorite ones: Declutter Your Mind: How to Stop Worrying, Relieve Anxiety, and Eliminate Negative Thinking by S.J. Scott and Barrie Davenport, that has perfect advice for this sensation of being completely overwhelmed and as soon as I remembered it, I just knew that I wanted to share some of the advice in there that I find very useful.
One of the main premises of this books, is that our thoughts determine the outcome of our lives and how our own inner monologue can (and will) make something look worse than it really is, how negative our own mind can really be when the “little comments” she always seems to be doing, and how difficult it is for us to get rid of these negative thoughts, so this book shows you in a very practical way, how to clean up your mental clutter.
The book is divided in four sections and it’s quiet detailed, so I’ll concentrate in the first part, Decluttering your Thoughts, and the advice the authors give are:
- Focused Deep Breathing. Easy, right? Of course! The only difference here is that instead of breathing out of habit, you should be able to be present with your breath and make it intentionally deeper, specially if you’re starting to feel overwhelmed by what you’re thinking, but practicing theses deep breathings though the day, every day will improve your mental process and is the foundation for the next tip.
2. Meditation. Surely some of you have heard me talk about the benefits of meditation, so I’ll not go into every little detail of all the benefits of a meditation practice I’ll just tell you that once you make it a habit, you clearly see the difference in your days. In the book you cand find a 10 minute meditation practice very useful for those of you that are new in this practice-
3.Reframe all Negative Thoughts. You reinforce your negative way of thinking every time you don’t challenge them and accept your thoughts as your personality and… you are not your thoughts! So to reframe them you would like to first observe them and be aware of them and once you recognize them, you can say “Stop” every time you identify one of them
4. Teach your Old Mind New Tricks. How? Taking the last advice one step further: once you stop one negative thought, replace it! Recognize that your negative thought is not completely true and find one concrete example that contradicts your negative thought. During those times where its impossible to maintain a positive attitude (because being honest nobody can be positive all the time in ever circumstance!) accept your negative thought trying no to judge it or yourself and just accept that is there and remember thar acceptance doesn’t mean inaction. If you’re worried about one situation and it seems you can’t stop worrying about that, don’t beat yourself over that and instead allow yourself to worry all you want but just for a fixed amount of time, and after that time has passed, move onto action!
I’d like to share all the very useful tips from this book, but this post would turn huge! But there’s one thing that I want you to remember: Be kind to yourselves, as kind as you are with the people you love!
Did you see Dior Cruise 2021 show today? If you did, don’t you think it was gorgeous? And if you didn’t, I really recommend you to do exactly that, because it’s so worth it! Of course, due to the pandemic we’re going through, it was held behind doors, but that didn’t make it any less spectacular.
The venue for this event was the Piazza del Duomo in Lecce, an Italian city from the Puglia region. Lecce is known as “The Florence of the South” because of its amazing baroque architectural monuments, and Dior’s show was held in the plaza of the city’s cathedral, so you can say it was held in one of the most prominent places in the City. If you see the show, you can realize the enormous amount of dedication that was required to present such an event.
For me, this event was foremost a celebration: first of all, a celebration of women as is Dior’s way, of community and of traditions, and proof of that was the mesmerizing pizzica dance, that is an ancient tradition in the Puglia region and has always been considered a way to celebrate family and social festivities (yes, I made my research!) and regarding women dancing the pizzica, Dior wanted to show a woman “who is at ease in the world and knows how to put everyone around her at ease too”
And we saw all the models in the catwalk intertwining with the dancers, with very colorful pieces, long and bohemian dresses, shirts, romantic blouses, light shorts and outstanding blazers. Of course, we could also see pieces in black and white as they couldn’t be missing from the collection, from lace dresses to a classical suit. Flawless accessories including Dior’s Bobby Bag, and what can I even say about the shoes and boots?
All in all, I absolutely loved the show, it was exciting and vibrant and magical and besides showcasing gorgeous pieces, Dior was able to convey a sense of community and celebration with this show, and let me tell you that is not an easy accomplishment, especially when your audience is watching you via stream! So I think it’s important to recognize Dior’s care in every little detail and its willingness to keep moving forward in this new way of living amidst a pandemic, paying extra attention in celebrating the simple fact that we are here.
If you want to live the experience here’s the full show!
