The holidays are literally around the corner and maybe you’re thinking about skipping your workouts during these dates, right? Well, of course you could just do that, but I wouldn’t recommend it! And because I know the holidays during a pandemic is a particularly difficult time for some of us to keep being motivated enough to continue with a our workouts, I wanted to write this post to talk to you about the benefits it could bring!
The main benefit is that working out helps you deal with stressful situations by releasing endorphins, that act as natural analgesics into your body that makes you feel good, and I guess these holidays have the potential to become stressful. In addition, working out provides an outlet to release built-up stress.
The second benefit is that working out can help you deal with seasonal depression, for many people, the reducing hours of sunlight due to winter approaching quickly, can lead to varying degrees of seasonal depression, and if you consider that we are not getting out very often due to the pandemic, this seasonal depression can get worse. And here’s where endorphins appear again, working out can actually help you to elevate your mood!
Also, exercise provides structure. So sticking to your workout routine may help you reduce stress or avoid depression that are associated to a reduction in structure within our daily routines. By maintaining your regular exercise routine in the face of the upcoming demands, you are providing stability and comfort to yourself. It can even help you control your anxiety.
Remember also, that working out regularly helps to strengthen your immune system. It helps you also to improve sleep and both are particularly important during these times. Just be careful no to overdo it, if you’re not used to too much intense activity may have the opposite effect, it’s best to maintain your workout routine or find a plan that keeps you motivated without overdoing it.
Remember that the main idea of sticking to your workout routine is to keep yourself healthy, motivated and with the added bonus of feeling good so you can enjoy these holidays with your loved ones, in a good mood, and being sure that there are yet great thing to come.
I want to share with you this workout that might help you feel inspired and maybe you’d want to add it to your own routine. Let me know if it works for you!
